Trainee – Health and Safety Advisor

To support Company activity as a trainee advisor with a focus upon delivery of health and safety to clients as detailed below.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To engage in appropriate level of safety advising and training activity as determined by qualification and experience which includes, but not limited to:
  • Undertaking site visits to complete inspections
  • Supporting Consultants and advisors in the development of paperwork and systems
  • Completing Quality Management systems, including SSIP/ISO applications, including gathering of required information
  • Assisting Consultants and advisors develop client policies and safety systems of work, and event plans.
  • Attending training courses required for onward development.
  • Working at outdoor events (may include some weekend working)
  • Recording level of work on companies Management software (workflow max)
  • Attending regular client meetings with SAMS safety consultants and advisors
  • Undertaking any reasonable tasks identified by Directors or other staff.

Qualifications

  • No formal health and safety qualifications are required as full training will be provided
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills are essential.
  • The ideal candidate will be a degree holder looking for first time employment although A-Levels and good grade GCSE’s will be considered.

Training

Development – 12 months

  • Achieve Training and Education qualification
  • Achievement of range of NEBOSH, Qual safe, first aid, CPC, UKATA and CITB and other awards as identified

Aspirations

  • Qualified trainer of health and safety courses
  • Chartered member of IOSH and OSCHR membership

Works from Office, externally with home working as required

Work Pattern: Flexi-time predominantly Monday to Friday, between 8 am – 5.00 pm, 37.5 hours per week with some weekend working as required

DSE role

Reports to: Operations Manager

Salary

£18,000 to £20,000 dependant upon experience with increases awarded as development needs are achieved. Overtime and travel expenses.

Transport

The successful candidate must hold a clean driving license and have their own transport.

  • Recording level of work on the company’s Management software (Workflow max)
  • Attending regular client meetings with the company’s safety consultants and advisors
  • Undertaking any reasonable tasks identified by Directors or other staff.

Qualification requirement

  • Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or equivalent
  • Technical member of IOSH (techIOSH)

Training
