About the CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme

We deliver the following two courses specifically for site managers: the CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) online course and the CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme Refresher online course (SSSTS-R).

These courses are Build UK approved as the required training for all managers who work on Build UK sites. SMSTS not only develops knowledge around health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, but also an understanding of your legal responsibilities, best practices for communicating these to your colleagues, and how to change the safety culture by implementing safe systems of work.

Who is the SMSTS Refresher online course for?

This SMSTS Refresher online course is for anyone who has already qualified in the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme. An SMSTS qualification should be refreshed every 5 years – if you have waited longer than this, then you may have to retake the entire course.

What does the SMSTS Refresher online course consist of?

The course is a refresher of the original SMSTS course. It will bring you up to date with the latest health and safety knowledge, including any changes within the last 5 years. This may encompass changes in legislation since you last qualified, and how these will affect your workplace and colleagues’ work.

The SMSTS Refresher online course will be completed entirely over Zoom, with a maximum of 12 people taking part in each session. The course material will naturally progress from your original course, and you’ll be introduced to new subjects and developments that have occurred in the interim.

After completion, you will have an extensive enough knowledge to account all the latest environmental, welfare, and health and safety legislation as it applies to your work. The SMSTS Refresher course can have a powerful impact upon your managerial role, and the way your colleagues work to get their jobs done safely and efficiently.

SMSTS Refresher course duration & cost

The SMSTS Refresher online course is taken via Zoom over the course of 2 days – this includes the exam. You will be taught by our specialist 5* rated trainers, who will work in harmony to provide you with the best SMSTS teaching experience.

This SMSTS Refresher online course will cost £280 + VAT per person. If you are looking to book a group onto the course, this can still be done by our automated booking system.
