FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health (RQF)
This qualification is for anyone who connects with young people. This includes teachers, carers and youth group leaders, as well as young adults who want to actively learn how to help their peers, or be more aware of the issues surrounding mental wellbeing.
This qualification will focus on the mental wellbeing of young people, covering areas including depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying. This qualification provides the knowledge and skills on how to understand and identify a potential mental health condition. Our students will learn how to approach people and start conversations, with the goal of providing the correct guidance and creating pathways to professional help.
This course allows students to correctly identify potential health conditions, and will further develop their understanding of the support available when conditions are recognised. We do not teach our students how to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, as our learners will not be healthcare professionals.

- What is First Aid for Youth Mental Health
- Identifying mental health conditions
- How stress can impact mental wellbeing
- Analysing mental health conditions
- The impact of drugs and alcohol
- A risk assessment and action plan in regards to mental health
Level of certification:
Our students will be issued a Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health after a successful completion of the assessment.
The course will be valid for 3 years; therefore, a full completion of the course every 3 years will be required in order to retain your certification.
Course Duration:
The course will be 3 hours long and will include two assessments.
Assessment:
The assessment will be split into two parts. The first part will be a written assessment paper, while the second part will include the practical demonstration of the action plan for First Aid for Youth Mental Health. The qualification will then be awarded after both parts are successfully passed.
Location:
The course can be taken in-class or remotely via the Zoom video conferencing app. Our site is based in Manston, Kent, and all remote courses will be completed via Zoom.
Course duration
The qualification will be valid for 3 years from the date of achievement, and will therefore have to be retaken when those 3 years are up.
