The Online Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course is designed for individuals with a basic awareness of health and safety in the construction industry and is an accepted pathway to the awarding of your CSCS Green Card.

The first part of the course comprises of a high quality video based training session which will take approximately 2 hours to complete.


IMPORTANT EXAM INFORMATION: 

Upon completion of the video course, candidates will be invited to apply for the online exam, which is the final step in qualifying to complete the CSCS Green Card award.

This final exam will be sent to you separately which will arrive approximately 72 hours after you have completed the first part of the course.

The examination is a formal process which will be invigilated to ensure it is completed correctly.

On successful completion of the exam your certificate will be emailed to you between 10-14 days afterwards.

The rules for the exam are detailed below.

CSCS card examination

This course is a foundation qualification and you will still need to arrange a separate environmental touch screen course at an approved centre. This process is in addition to the above.


Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Online Course Overview

During the course, learners will develop a good understanding of

  • health and safety in the context of construction, so that they can work safely in this environment
  • the hazards and risks specific to construction sites
  • how to identify and mitigate these risks and
  • keeping yourself and your colleagues safe at work.

This qualification covers the following topics:

Module 1: Introduction

Module 2: Hazards, Risks, Assessments and Controls

Module 3: Slips, Trips, Falls and Working at Height

Module 4: Manual Handling

Module 5: Plant, Machinery and Noise

Module 6: Respiratory Risks

Module 7: Fire, Electricity and Gas Safety

Module 8: Chemicals and Other Onsite Hazards

Module 9: Vehicles, PPE And General Safety

Online exam

The online learning portion of the course is optionally followed by a live exam, which will be invigilated using your webcam and a special online platform. If you do not have a webcam or cannot otherwise take the exam, you will not be able to gain your CSCS Green Card online.

Upon completion of your video training, you will receive an email within 72 hours with instructions of how to begin your online exam. This can be taken at any time the candidate chooses. Note that your exam may be recorded and software monitored to ensure the integrity of the process. Failing to follow the rules may disqualify the candidate from the process.

After completion of the exam, it will be invigilated within 24 – 48 hours.

It is important to know that you will still need to arrange a separate environmental touch screen course at a CSCS test centre which is in addition to the above.

Exam Rules

  • No external devices can be used
  • No other tabs open on the computer
  • No one else in the room at the time of the exam
  • No written notes
